The name Diddillibah is a Kabi Kabi word for “place of the grass”. The grass referred to is commonly known as Lomandra and similar fibres from the area were used for basket making. Kabi Kabi people lived, loved, gathered, traded, created and provided stewardship for the lands of the Diddillibah region for countless generations. 

Non-Indigenous people moved into the region in the nineteenth century, following well-documented processes of colonisation and invasion that occurred across the continent.

Families of non-Indigenous people over many generations have  now called Diddillibah home.
